“Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
Simply stated, Hope4Healing cannot function without volunteers. We have helped with over 600 requests for the individuals and families that we serve, and each and everyone of those requests have had at least two volunteers as part of the solution. That’s 1,200 different volunteer opportunities! Read below about the different volunteer opportunities available through Hope4Healing:
As a non-profit, Hope4Healing cannot afford a large staff. We need individuals who are willing to have a computer and few minutes each day to just get online and help us with some of our searches. Do you have a computer? Would you like to help others?
“I enjoy being on the computer. I don’t work outside the home any more and I am always looking for something to do with my time. Being a research volunteer helps me believe I am making a difference for others in my community.” (B.S. Research Partner)
You can live out your faith in front of those coming to Hope4Healing in need of help. This is what one of our friendship ministry team members has to say about why you and your church should join Hope4Healing as a volunteer:
“I accepted the email to befriend a person in need. When I telephoned, I heard a sense of despair and hopelessness. During the time that the network searched for and found needed furniture items for this unexpected move to an unfurnished apartment, I was able, through several phone visits, to encourage this person, pray with her, and invite her to church fellowship. What a joy to be serve this one in a desperate time with a few hours of contact, and then encourage long term faith, friendship, and acceptance in a good church family.” (D. V. FMT Leader)
It is true that resource partners are the ones that provide services for those families and individuals who have a need, but they are still volunteers! They volunteer to help make the relationships stronger between all Hope4Healing partners. They are part of boards, community groups, and community action groups aimed at helping communities grow and flourish. Listen to what they say:
“Depending on the time of year, there are a lot of people needing help from my agency. Oftentimes we have to turn them away. Hope4Healing helps with this process by calling us first to prequalify the person’s request and to make sure the client and the agency are both on the same page. I like working with Hope4Healing because they care about me and the client. I know I can send people to them when I can’t help, and I know that they will check with me first. It is so encouraging to know I am not just turning someone away; instead, Hope4Healinghelps me care for clients even when I don’t have the services they need.” ( R.K. Resource Partner/ Head of Community Action Group)
Being a volunteer doesn’t have to be difficult. You can just carry the Hope4Healing contact cards with you, put them up on bulletin boards at work, church, or your favorite restaurant, and carry them in your wallet to hand out as you go about your day.
” I don’t have a lot of money, and I have had times in my life where I just needed someone else to encourage me or point me in a new direction. I don’t always know what to tell my family, friends, or co-workers when they are facing difficult times. Now I know that my church and I can help others just by giving out these cards. I feel like I am making difference even though I might not every see this person again!” (M. J. member of a H4H partnering church)
Partnering with Hope4Healing is easy, because it can fit into your normal routine, accentuate your existing talents, and provide the opportunity for meaningful interactions with others.
